Gurnee Professional Firefighters Local 3598

This week training was ice rescue. Unfortunately we did not have much ice left as the weather got warmer but we made the best of our opportunity. All three shifts were still able to use the Rapid Deployment Craft and get dressed in our ice recuse suits. We made rescues using the RDC or with just a single rescuer as calls permitted. ... Members of our honor guard attended the 31st AFFI Honor Guard Convention this past weekend in Peoria. Local 3598 members Ben Friel moved into a Drill Captain position and Leon Lake became the District 5 Commander. Congratulations on your new positions and thank you for your dedication to serving in our honor guard.

Also thank you our retirees who attended as well. Lt. John Rikje for his continued service in the honor guard and B/C John Skillman for his work with Shield 23 Foundation Inc.
